All wood is at least 200 years old, repurposed from old chalets via a firm based in Verbier, Switzerland. Designed by architect Christof Eigelberger and appointed by Challisma Swiss Design, with construction by Brikor, the Zermatt-inspired home epitomizes the modern chalet concept, providing breathtaking views of Shadow Mountain. The architectural landscape expansion plans and permit for an additional 650 square feet of floor area are included—this is a home that can evolve with your vision. The large, thick slate & copper roof is from Norway, installed by a craftsman from Italy. The exterior wood siding is 200 years old, and the beams are over 300 years old. Inside, the home offers impressive features and finishes, including 15-foot ceilings on the main and lower levels, a grand two-story entry hall, and a modern glass-and-steel encased elevator. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors bathe the interior in natural light, and a floating glass fireplace adds a touch of contemporary elegance. Bathrooms feature granite and natural stone materials. Inspired by the newer chalets being designed and built in Zermatt, Switzerland, all of the furniture, as well as the European-style motorized doors and hardware, came from Switzerland and Europe throughout. The lower level is a haven of entertainment, with a game room lit by turn-of-the-century-inspired bullet glass skylights, a pool table, a tournament-size shuffleboard table, and a bar with a beer tap. The amenities extend to a gym, a wine room, and an expansive laundry room. High-tech features abound with a Lutron System, Savant Integration, custom keypad entries, and automatic shades and drapes. A private office on the main level and an entertaining bar in the living area further enhance the functionality of the home. The powder room counter was created from a solid block of wood that is over 400 years old. The primary suite is a luxurious retreat, with a floating glass fireplace, a black crystal chandelier, and a painted fireplace. The bathroom features a cowhide-wrapped soaking tub from Aquamass, an expansive walk-in closet with a washer/dryer, and a secured owner's closet. Each of the other bedrooms is uniquely named after a mountain peak in the Aspen Valley and features a custom built-in upholstered headboard with matching bedding, all designed by Chalisima. Outside, you'll find custom outdoor furniture, heating lamps, a spa, a fireplace, and an outdoor Hestan built-in barbeque station with custom cabinetry. A two-car garage, along with a well-equipped ski & bike room featuring built-in boot heaters and ample storage space, is essential to an active lifestyle. This property's most astonishing feature is the view of Shadow Mountain, which is visible from nearly every room. The home comes with 20 Acres of Shadow Mountain that rises 1,200 feet above the backyard of the home and then back down the other side to Castle Creek, a year-round river stream with trout.
